Hiking Club Members, you can RSVP here for the Indiana Dunes Hike on June 23. Want to join the Hiking Club? Juniors and older may join. Let us know if you are interested! We have hiking opportunities year round.
JUNE HIKE - INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL PARK Sunday June, 23 9 AM - 2 PM (approx. end time) Cowles Bog Trail - 5 Miles https://www.nps.gov/places/cowles-bog-north.htm
This hike fulfills the pinnacle requirement for the Trail Adventure patch. This hike will also come with a special medallion for your hiking stick!
Drop-Off & Pick-Up at Indiana Dunes Visitor Center (Dorothy Buell Memorial Visitor Center) 1215 IN-49 Porter, IN 46304
To reduce the number of NPS Entrance Passes needed, we will carpool* from to the Visitor Center to the trailhead. *Drivers with non-family riders must be registered volunteers, over 21, carry a first aid kit, and carry permission slips for their passengers.
If you have a 2023-24 school-year 4th grader, your National Park Entrance Pass is FREE! Just follow the instructions at this link: https://everykidoutdoors.gov/index.htm
Participants must dress for the weather and wear appropriate hiking footwear: -Sturdy closed toe shoes -Hiking socks, synthetic, or wool socks -No sandals or crocs -Hiking boots or trail shoes are HIGHLY recommended!
Each hiker must bring a backpack packed with: -Lunch -Plenty of extra water (recommended 2-3 liters) -Water shoes for wading at the beach (NO SWIMMING) -Poncho in case of rain -Extra pair of socks -Brimmed hat -Sunglasses -Sunscreen -Insect repellent -Personal first aid kit
GORP will be provided.
Dogs are not permitted on Hiking Club hikes
